Ciao, Milano, you must have noticed that the art fair powerhouse miart is in full swing. With a wide cross section of Modern and contemporary work on display, it cultivates a range of collecting and conversation opportunities for all sides of the industry. As usual, however, there’s plenty more art to see outside the fair, so here’s a round-up of some galleries you travelers shouldn’t miss while you’re in Milan: Montrasio Arte has some bodily and cool sculpture by Giacinto Cerone on display, while Studio La Città hosts Herbert Hamak’s vibrant rainbow-colored objects. If you’re as excited by rattan and wicker as I am, you better run over to Galleria Paola Colombari, because furniture designer Sergio J. Matos has outdone himself with some truly gorgeous, innovative chairs. For a taste of warmer climates, visit Monica De Cardenas for an exceptional solo show of both photographs and sculpture by Rä di Martino under the memorable exhibition title “The Day He Swims thru Marrakech.” And that’s just the beginning—find our full list of recommendations below.
