Yesterday, the former country singer turned bonafide pop star Miley Cyrus broke the internet when it was announced she would screen her three-minute erotica film, Tongue Tied, at New York’s first-ever porn film festival (see Miley Cyrus and Amalia Ulman Headline NYC Porn Film Festival — In Bushwick!).
However according to the New York Post, the singer did not personally submit the film to the festival and its inclusion was a total misunderstanding. One of her representatives said in a statement, “Miley was proud to make a film with acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Jones. She did not instigate this festival submission and is not participating in any way.” Her representatives said festival organizer Simon Leahy lied about Cyrus submitting the film and then hoodwinked the production company, Cadence Films, into granting permission to showcase it. Cyrus’s team asked Leahy to remove the film from the line-up and online listings, which he did Tuesday night.
“Basically they didn’t do their due diligence,” Leahy said in a rebuttal. “We asked to show it at the festival. Because the word porn is involved, basically the media has just sensationalized it and turned it into a click-bait story.” Leahy claims he has emails from Cyrus’s camp allowing him to screen the film.
The video, which was originally used on the singer’s Bangerz tour, can still be viewed on Youtube.
