The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) in Washington, D.C., has announced the list of participating artists for its upcoming biennial, “Organic Matters—Women to Watch 2015.”

The program, which began in 2008, features new and underrepresented artists from states and countries where the museum has designated outreach committees dedicated to identifying and supporting female artists. Members of each committee work with local curators to create a shortlist of artists from which the NMWA then selects a single artist to represent the region.

Each biennial exhibition operates around a theme selected by museum curators. The fourth installment, “Organic Matters,” will “illuminate the ways in which contemporary artists re-contextualize images of plants and animals in order to reflect upon themes of sexuality, gender politics, the abject, and the sublime,” according to a press release.
