Amazing new restaurant with a cool ambience in the west of Berlin with a fantastic view overlooking the Zoo. The food is a Mediterranean and Middle Eastern mix, a fantastic choice for vegetarians or vegans. Stay for a drink at the Monkey Bar next door. Reservations are a must.
La Soupe Populaire, Prenzlauer Allee 242, 10405 – Tel: + 030 44319680
The third restaurant of Michelin-starred chef Tim Raue, La Soupe Populaire is located inside the former Bötzow Brewery. The exposed brick and polished concrete interior combined with vintage furniture hints at the building’s former purpose. The menu offers classic Berlin cuisine. Look out for the Andreas Gursky photographs adorning the walls.

This wonderful eatery is based inside the bottom floor of a decommissioned church, which stands within a beautiful courtyard. The food consists of a fantastic variety of French dishes. The atmosphere is warm and hospitable. Try the signature entrée, slow roasted pork.

Bonbon Bar, Torstraße 133, 10119 – Tel: + 030 24628718
Newest hot spot in Berlin Mitte with a lovely location, stylishly furnished interior and nice looking people, and a wide range of well-made drinks. Great lounge and electronic music mix.
Trust Bar, Neue Promenade 10, 10178 – Tel: + 030 27593295
Located beneath the railway tracks near Berlin’s Hackescher Markt, Trust Bar’s new location is accommodating and stylishly grimy at the same time. Spirits and champagne come in charmingly small 0,2 and 0,7 liter bottles. Beer is available but drinkers will have to endure the indignity of having it served in a brown paper bag.
Bar Tausend, Schiffbauerdamm 11, 10117 – Tel: + 030 27582070
Imagine a secret bar from 1920s Prohibition era America that’s so hard to find you wouldn’t know how to get in unless you’re with somebody who does. A metal door underneath a railway bridge opens up to a slick, spacious bar with a good mix of drinks, music, and people.
