Private Reception for “Ran Hwang: The Snowfall of Spiders” at Leila Heller Gallery

Leila Heller hosted a reception and private viewing of “Ran Hwang: The Snowfall of Spiders” on February 25. The show, which is Hwang’s second at the gallery, features works comprised of her signature buttons, beads and pins in stunning shades of champagne, Tiffany blue, cherry red and silver. The highlight is an interactive “virtual garden” featuring an ever-changing motif of cherry blossoms, crystal spider webs, and a snowy white backdrop, which serves as an emblem for the circle of life and the changing of the seasons.
Guests, including Liliana Cavendish, Ambassador Oh Joon, and Rachel Hovnanian, mingled with both the artist and gallerist while enjoying Hwang’s intricate, hauntingly beautiful works.
“Ran Hwang: The Snowfall of Spiders” will be on view at the Leila Heller Gallery until March 21, 2014. More information is available here.
