For her show “FunQroc,” the newest exhibition of work by Sarah Lucas, the artist is planning a series of events throughout this upcoming Easter Weekend in Berlin, including an activity teased on the invite as an “Easter Bunny Action Painting.”
While details of the program have been kept under lock-and-key, Contemporary Fine Arts (CFA)—her gallery representation in the city—has been posting hints on what’s in store on Instagram.
The weekend launches tonight with the opening at CFA in their new upstairs gallery located above their existing space in Charlottenburg. The location is a typical old Berlin apartment that has not been renovated in decades—complete with coal heating and peeling wallpaper—an element that the artist asked to keep untouched for the show.
On Friday, an event titled “Have a Holiday With Us” runs at the gallery from 1–4 p.m., and afterwards, Berliners can join a rather early party (starting at 4 p.m.) at Monarch, a club in Kreuzberg, where acts such as 100% Beefcock and the Titsburster, Arthur and the Spooners, Didi Kern and Philipp Quehenberger, and the ever-subtle Anus Riot are slated to perform.
On Saturday and Sunday, “One Thousand Eggs” and “Bunny Action Painting” are on the schedule, though what exactly these entail remains to be seen. It seems only natural, though, that Lucas, whose most iconic artworks often feature fried eggs, will put on an eggy event for Easter.
