On December 9 in Paris, Saint Laurent opened the largest flagship store in the history of the luxury brand. The sleek, modern space encapsulates the vision of austere glamour pushed by creative director Anthony Vaccarello.
The store is the latest luxury addition to the iconic Avenue des Champs-Élysées, situated between Place de Concorde and the Arc de Triomphe. “I wanted to realize one of Yves Saint Laurent’s wishes when he arrived in Paris and said he wanted his name to be written in fiery letters on the Champs-Élysées,” Vaccarello said in a statement. The Haussmann exterior belies the modern, raw majesty inside.
During his tenure, Vaccarello has transformed the Saint Laurent boutiques into hybrid galleries, showcasing his passions of art, furniture, and design. The new store continues that trend on a much more grandiose scale.
A bold neon light sculpture by the Welsh conceptual artist Cerith Wyn Evans was commissioned for the space and is offset by a dramatic, black-lacquered curved staircase. Other highlights include several Donald Judd furniture pieces as well as a serene private garden. There is also more marble than a quarry.
There are now 297 Saint Laurent stores worldwide. Seventeen of those opened in 2023.
The new Saint Laurent flagship is located at 123 Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Paris.
