Let’s take a visit to Seoul this week. Summer’s around the corner, so we’re in that transitory period where there are a number of gallery shows either coming up or going down over the next month. Let’s take note of what’s out there and what warrants your attention.

There’s an interesting installation on view at Perrotin, featuring the conceptual and eponymous brand of Chinese artist Xu Zhen. In a wide range of media and aesthetics, the show “XU ZHEN®” presents a tongue-in-cheek examination of globalist consumerism. Then, American artist Jacob Kassay currently has a solo show up at Leeahn Gallery, featuring a new take on his fascination with the painting object. In this series, the white-painted canvases billow and bend beyond the traditional rectangular format, neatly framed in oak and often hung in pairs. Not to be missed is Pace Gallery’s recently opened summer show, which has a nice lineup of art world heavyhitters like Kiki Smith, Louise Nevelson, and, a personal favorite, Thomas Nozkowski, whose modest abstract paintings never fail to surprise and delight me.

From shows closing soon to those you can look forward to opening in the coming weeks, find artnet’s full list of picks below.
