Returning once again to New York’s Park Avenue Armory, the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) is set to present the 36th edition of The Art Show October 30–November 2, with a Benefit Preview October 29, 2024. A longstanding supporter of the Henry Street Settlement, as in previous editions all admissions proceeds will be donated to the organization.

The Art Show will welcome 75 ADAA member galleries this year, of which an unprecedented 43 will be staging solo artist booths, including Tim Hawkinson with Hosfelt Gallery, Sant Francisco; Billie Zangewa with Lehmann Maupin, New York; and Isabella Ducrot with Petzel, New York. There will also be a number of first-time fair participants, many of which are New York City favorites, including Canada, Berry Campbell, Two Palms, And Charles Moffett, just to name a few.

While new and returning visitors to the fair will be met with a diverse and dynamic range of fair booths as anticipated, The Art Fair is debuting an entirely new programming initiative this year that will see the New York-based fair take on a distinctive focus: the city of Houston. “Spotlight On…” is a now annual initiative wherein each year the fair will draw focus on the unique art scene of a different city, specifically a city that reflects a number of ADAA gallery members.

The 2024 “Spotlight On…Houston” will operate as a platform on which various facets of the city’s greater art scene are explored and discussed—from its artists and curators to dealers and collectors, as well as the events and exhibitions being staged at local museums, galleries, and other arts-related spaces. A dedicated panel discussion series will feature insightful reflections on Houston’s art programs, as well as their subsequent impacts on local communities. Dialogues between institutional leaders like Senior Curator Michelle White of the Menil Collection and Executive Director Hesse McGraw of the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, moderated by Julia Halperin, co-founder of the Burns Halperin Report; a roundtable, as well as a convening of Houston-based collectors together illustrate the multifaceted and vibrant artistic landscape of the city.

Complimenting these programs, the fair will also premier a short documentary made collaboratively between the ADAA and Texas-based filmmakers, Walley Films, that feature a range of Houston-based ADAA members, including Inman Gallery, Sicardi | Ayers | Bacino, and Texas Gallery among others, providing deeper insight into the makeup of the city’s gallery scene.

“We are thrilled to ring in The Art Show’s 36th year with our newly established program, ‘Spotlight On…,’” said Executive Director of the ADAA Kinsey Robb, “which will underscore the geographic diversity of our ADAA members, highlight the robust artistic communities that they’re a part of, and bring new audiences to the fair. The inaugural “Spotlight On… Houston” will consequently celebrate the city’s arts scene while fostering deeper connections within the national arts community as a whole.”
