The Art World Reacts to #MyNYPD Social Media Snafu

For those of you who are less well-versed in the happenings of the Twittersphere, the New York Police Department recently had a major marketing snafu. In an attempt to increase social media participation, on Tuesday they asked followers to tweet images of police in their communities with the hashtag #MyNYPD. Social media campaigns like this have become commonplace for brands, however the NYPD got something a little different than they requested as people all over the world began posting images of police violence and brutality, even spawning a similar #MyLAPD hashtag.
