The exhibition Birth of a Museum, which presents highlights from the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s collection, is heading to Paris where it will be displayed at the Musée du Louvre’s Napoleon Hall from May 2.

The exhibition includes a rare example of a standing Bactrian Princess from the third millennium BCE, Paul Gauguin’s Children Wrestling (1888), as well as a series of nine works by Cy Twombly.

After many delays, the Jean Nouvel-designed Louvre Abu Dhabi is slated for a 2015 opening. It will be located on Saadiyat Island alongside the Zayed National Museum and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
