It’s time once again for Art Fair Tokyo: Each year this major art fair—the largest in Japan—gathers exhibitors and dealers to present a wide range of art, antiques, and crafts. From traditional nihonga painting to contemporary cutting-edge installations, the fair covers a lot of ground and offers something for every type of art enthusiast. But, as always, there’s more to see beyond the art fair walls, so be sure to venture out into Tokyo and take advantage of its lively gallery scene. Head over to SCAI The Bathhouse for the dazzling multimedia LED display by Tatsuo Miyajima, or visit Yumiko Chiba Associates for a solo show of noted Gutai artist Kazuyo Kinoshita. Be sure not to miss Tomoo Gokita’s exhibition at Taka Ishii Gallery, and discover firsthand what makes his signature gray-scale paintings so unforgettable and formally sharp. If goofy photography is more your speed, then you’ve got Juergen Teller’s new work at Blum & Poe to keep you entertained.

Get busy and cross as many of these shows off your list before they close!
