Dallas Contemporary Hires Alison Gingeras and Justine Ludwig
The Dallas Contemporary has announced two additions to its curatorial staff: Alison Gingeras, who comes on board as adjunct curator, and Justine Ludwig, who has been named director of exhibitions and senior curator.
Gingeras, a curator and writer based in New York, has spent the last 15 years abroad, serving as the chief curator of the Palazzo Grassi in Venice and as curator of contemporary art at Paris’s Centre Pompidou. A former curator at the Guggeheim Museum, New York, Gingeras also founded the East Village space Oko, an outpost of Luxembourg & Dayan Gallery, in 2005. Though she is new to the Dallas Contemporary, her husband, artist Piotr Uklanski, had a solo exhibition at the institution that closed last month.
A veteran of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Rose Art Museum, the Colby College Museum of Art, and the MIT List Visual Arts Center, Ludwig most recently worked at the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) in Cincinnati, where she served in assistant and adjunct curator roles. Specializing in contemporary South Asian art, she has curated such exhibitions as “Illuminated Geographies: Pakistani Miniaturist Practice in the Wake of the Global Turn” at the Tufts University Art Gallery and “Patti Smith: The Coral Sea” at CAC, both in 2013.
