Figge von Rosen Closes Berlin Gallery

Figge von Rosen Galerie announced on Monday that it will close its Berlin location upon the conclusion of its current exhibition by Nic Hess on January 24. The gallery’s Cologne space will remain open. The shift comes due to the departure of Figge von Rosen co-founder Philipp Figge after nearly 10 years in the business.
Speaking to artnet News, co-founder Philipp von Rosen said that he plans to continue the gallery under the name Philipp von Rosen Galerie “until I retire.” Explaining the changes, Von Rosen says, “As a single person, I will not be able to continue with Berlin. The rest of the gallery will remain as it was.” The gallery will participate in the Armory Show and Art Cologne as planned.
Meanwhile, Philipp Figge is said to be pursuing a career shift towards the advertising sector. Von Rosen says the change was not due to current forces within the art market.
Philipp von Rosen Galerie will continue with the same stable of artists, which currently includes Walter Dahn, Jose Dávila, Anna K.E., Yelena Popova, and Javier Téllez. The gallery has gained a significant reputation for the development of young and mid-career artists over the past decade, among them art market darling David Ostrowski, who was picked up from the gallery by Peres Projects.
