A group of well-heeled partygoers took a tumble into Venice’s Grand Canal on their way to an exclusive cocktail party at Fondazione Prada yesterday.

The dozen guests were reportedly warned not to overcrowd the jetty, but their eagerness for free booze and hors d’oeuvres clearly took over. Luckily, no one was hurt.

Onlookers captured and posted several snapshots of the incident, and the Italian news site La Nuova di Venezia e Mestre published an exhaustive 43-image slideshow that begins with the gang milling about safely on shore and ends with their waterlogged descent.

Call it schadenfreude, but those of us stuck at home, enviously following the Biennale festivities on Instagram, can’t help but giggle (see Everything You Need To Know About the Venice Biennale 2015, Get a Sneak Peek Inside the 56th Venice Biennale on Instagram).

A spokesperson for Fondazione Prada confirmed the snafu to WWD. Surprisingly, most of the guests don’t even look all that annoyed or distressed—some even appear to be laughing.

The question remains as to whether or not the revelers soldiered on to make a splashy entrance at the event (yep, we said it) or decided to call it a day. Those of you who in Venice should keep in mind that if you happen to see a stylish woman with seaweed in her hair, it’s probably not a new fashion trend. But, hey, it still likely wouldn’t be weirdest thing you’ve seen in Venice this week (see The Most Outlandish Things Seen at the 56th Venice Biennale So Far).
