Everyone knows that the growing number of fairs and events jam-packed into Armory Week can be extremely intimidating for would-be collectors. The New York Times hit the circuit with a hypothetical US$5,000 budget and three professional art advisers. Though high prices at the Amory Show‘s Pier 92 for Modern art were discouraging, bargains from emerging artists could still be found, especially at less high-end fairs such as Fountain and the Independent.
