Art Miami executive director and partner Nick Korniloff announced today that the fair has signed a multi-year agreement with Resorts World Miami to host the next edition of Art Miami and its sister fair, Context, during Miami Art Week 2017 and beyond.
The news means a major move to a new, more prestigious locale, with ample adjacent parking, just north of the Pérez Art Museum Miami on Biscayne Bay, separated by the MacArthur Causeway (highway 395).
Korniloff said the timing was right, noting that a lot of clients had been asking for more space. In 2016, Art Miami grew to 125 exhibitors from 115 last year. And Context went from 68 dealers in 2012—the year it was founded—to 100 this year.
“It is now time for us to create a new opportunity for our organization, our clients and our community as we move both Art Miami and Context Art Miami to one of the most prestigious and well known waterfront locations in the city, the Resorts World Miami property, the former site of the Miami Herald, on Biscayne Bay,” said Korniloff.
Korniloff said he and the organization are confident that the new location “will offer an unprecedented level of convenience, ambience and amenities for all collectors that attend Miami Art Week.”
Over the last decade, Art Miami and Context were part of the Midtown/Wynwood Arts district. “We are proud of the relationships we built and the contributions that our fairs provided in helping establish and creating international recognition for the the Midtown / Wynwood arts district. We congratulate the land owners, developers and business owners on making their vision become a reality and an asset for our beloved Miami community” Korniloff added.
