This Cat Expo Threatens to Send Cat Lovers Into a Feline Frenzy

Get ready for purrr-fection.

If you like art, cats, and bizarre conventions (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t?), then CatConLA is the place for you this weekend.

Described as “part expo, part symposium,” CatCon is described on its website as “the world’s top cat-centric merchandise including furniture, art, toys and clothing for those of us who possess a great love of the feline.” Or, as writer and CatConLA organizer Susan Michals told the Huffington Post, “It’s like Comic Con, but for cat people.”

Headlined by illustrator Simon Tofield, who is known for his animated cartoon and book series, Simon’s Cat, the event has a definite art bent, with several artists, designers, and illustrators selling cat-themed wares. Oh, and the famous feline Lil’ Bub will be there. Think of it like an art fair, but with more cuddly kitties and less gallerists.

Tickets cost $25 for one day of cat-filled fun, but it will set you back $150 to hang out with Lil’ Bub. At least, it would, if the meet-and-greet package wasn’t already sold out. Tickets to meet Pudge, of Cats of Instagram fame, are still available and cost $100. But don’t worry if you’re not willing to plunk down three figures for facetime with a four-legged friend, because it sounds like there will be plenty of cats on premises. You can even take one home.
