Remember the time when the art world stopped in the summer? Those days are over! The most recent addition of the Seattle Art Fair took place in July, and now CHART, in its third edition, opens to the public tomorrow with 28 carefully selected galleries showcasing exclusively the best of the best in contemporary art from the Nordic region. From the fair itself to the special projects to the performances and talks, this event has plenty for you to see all in one space, at the Kunsthal Charlottenborg.

It doesn’t stop there. Monocle’s most livable city in the world also has must-see exhibitions this weekend. Start your tour by heading over to Martin Asbæk Gallery, where they will be presenting their annual group show, “Summer in the City.” In its 10th year showcasing modern Scandinavian artists, as well as emerging and established artists, this year you can find works by Zevs, Rama King Nash, and German artist Markus Oehlen, who will also be shown at the fair. Even though Peter Lav Gallery is closed for the fair until Saturday, make sure to head over after to see photographs by Emil Salto, in which he spotlights objects and documents that were inherited from his grandfather as his subject matter. From there, stop by long-time gallery Galleri Susanne Ottesen, showing new works by self-taught Danish artist Troels Wörsel, in which he explores the combination of construction and perception in an expressive manner, while paints almost entirely without a brush, removing his personal style and leaving his impressions anonymous to the viewer. If you were disappointed that you weren’t going to make it to the Peter Doig show at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, not to worry, it’s been extended until Sunday. In collaboration with Fondation Beyeler in Riehen, you can now view all 30 of Doig’s large-format oil paintings and works on paper.

Even though so many art events are coinciding with your summer, don’t forget, it’s still summer, so enjoy the heat while you can.
