In anticipation of the looming art world calendar crunch in May 2015—when the 2015 Venice Biennale preview, Frieze New York, and Paris Photo Los Angeles are all due to happen within three weeks of one another—Frieze has opted to push back its US fair by a week, the Art Newspaper reports. Now slated to run May 14–17 (with a preview on May 13), the fourth edition of Frieze New York will not clash with the opening of the Venice Biennale, which is opening a month early next year, on May 9 (with previews May 6–8).

“We consulted all our partners in the decision, as it was important that we considered all possible implications,” Frieze co-founder Matthew Slotover told TAN. “We’re confident that the small shift should have minimal impact on everyone involved in making Frieze New York a success.”

Earlier this year Art Basel Hong Kong, Paris Photo LA, and FIAC Los Angeles all announced plans to rejigger their schedules so as not to conflict with the opening of the Venice Biennale. ABHK will move up to March, right after the Armory Show, while Paris Photo LA and FIAC LA will take place toward the end of May, opening on the 27th.
