Swedish, Frankfurt-based artist John Skoog was awarded the Baloise Prize for his work in London-based gallery Pilar Corrias’ booth in Art Basel’s Statements sector.

The prize is remunerated with CHF 30,000. The Baloise group will also purchase two of Skoog’s works. One of those works will head to the Hamburger Kunsthalle, the other to Vienna’s Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig.

The 29 year old artist was recognized by an international jury for his film, Reduit (Redoubt) (2014). The jury was made up of Karola Kraus, Susanne Gaensheimer, Dirk Snauwaert, and Martin Schwander.
