If this weekend’s auction results are any indication, people still desperately want a piece of the Material Girl. According to Page Six, Madonna’s wedding gown from her 1985 marriage to Sean Penn sold for a whopping $81,250 at a Julien’s Auctions “Icons & Idols: Rock n’ Roll” sale in Beverly Hills on November 7th and 8th (see “Madonna Memorabilia Heads to Auction“).

Other highlights include the Marilyn Monroe-inspired gown and stole from her “Material Girl” video, which sold for $73,125; her jacket from “Desperately Seeking Susan,” which fetched a record $252,000; an earring from the same film that went for $34,375; and her “A League of Their Own” uniform, coming in at $31,250. Many of these items, including the baseball uniform, were initially only estimated at a couple thousand dollars.

Memorabilia from David Bowie, Heart, Elvis Presley, the Grateful Dead, Lady Gaga, and other cultural and musical icons was also sold at the auction.
