Robert Mapplethorpe “As Above, So Below” at OHWOW Gallery in Los Angeles
The guest list at the opening for “As Above, So Below,” an exhibition of Robert Mapplethorpe’s work at OHWOW Gallery in Los Angeles included a mix of hotshot photographers, major Hollywood names, and LA cool kids. The after-party, which took place at the legendary Chateau Marmont, was more of the same.
“Based on theoretical concepts of achieving visual equity and superceding artifice through method,” the exhibition presents more than 40 of Mapplethorpe’s images, including including silver gelatin prints and Polaroids, many of which have never been displayed before.
