Tom Brady’s Prized Jerseys and Custom Watches Head to Auction
Sotheby's will offer timepieces by the likes of Audemars Piguet and Patek Phillippe as well as game-worn jerseys.
America’s most famed quarterback, Tom Brady, is hailed as the best player in the game and an NFL legend. He led his teams to a record seven Super Bowl victories and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player no fewer than five times. The superstar is now putting his prized collection of watches and artifacts from the playing field up for auction at Sotheby’s New York on December 10.
“To put it simply, this is a collection that collectors can only dream of,” said Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s head of modern collectibles, in press materials. “From Tom Brady’s collegiate journey to his NFL Combine appearance, and remarkable rise from humble beginnings to Super Bowl triumphs with both the Patriots and Buccaneers—each item in this auction embodies these pivotal moments.”
Brady’s interest in watches began in high school, when his parents gifted him a timepiece to celebrate his graduation and acceptance to the University of Michigan. After winning his first Super Bowl, in 2002, he bought an IWC GST Automatic Alarm—an image of the watch had appeared as the screen saver on his college computer—and his passion for collecting luxury watches began. The collection now also includes pieces from luxury brands including Patek Philippe and Rolex along with custom models linked to key moments in his career.
A standout is a custom Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon, worn by Brady on Netflix’s Greatest Roast of All Time: The Roast of Tom Brady. Estimated at $400,000–$800,000, the watch features a white gold case with a baguette diamond-set bezel, a salmon dial, and an engraving of Brady’s name plus the number of Super Bowls he has won in Roman numerals (VII), spelled out in diamonds.
Other highlights include a rose-gold Patek Philippe Nautilus, bought in 2017 and estimated at $180,000–$240,000, as well as a Richard Mille 35-03 “Baby Nadal” in blue quartz, designed for high-performance sports and expected to sell for $300,000–$500,000.
Also up for grabs are game-worn jerseys, including the final one he wore in college play, from the 2000 Orange Bowl, and the one he wore while racing the 40-yard dash at the 2000 NFL Combine, alongside his helmet from when he played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“I’m excited to give fans and collectors a chance to own and cherish these special pieces from my journey just like I have,” said Brady in press materials. Prices range from $12,000–$800,000, a bargain compared to the $5.4 million a buyer shelled out for the most expensive watch that Sotheby’s sold in the first half of 2024 alone, a Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime (6300G) previously owned by actor and filmmaker Sylvester Stallone.
“The collection is truly unparalleled; the stories they tell, the authenticity they embody, and their historical significance elevate them beyond mere collectibles—these items are genuine pieces of sports history,” said Wachter.
The collection will go on display in Los Angeles, Miami, and Dallas before returning to New York.
“These watches and collectibles capture unforgettable moments and the hard work behind them,” says Brady. “I hope they bring as much joy and inspiration to fans as they did for me.”
