Could an art-storage giant be the answer to costly gallery overhead amid an uncertain market?

In the art world, UOVO is synonymous with top-notch art storage and handling, but now, with a just-launched initiative called Galleries Reimagined, the industry leader is expanding its reach.

The initiative hopes to incentivize small and mid-sized art businesses—such as those run by art advisors, independent dealers, or the owners of galleries—to take advantage of UOVO’s top-of-the-line viewing rooms as needed, in lieu of permanent brick-and-mortar locations or digital-only options.

The initiative was a natural expansion of trends that have emerged since the company opened its flagship space in Long Island City in December 2014.

Over the years, clients have increasingly adapted their private storage rooms to facilitate full-time work onsite, with staff and private rooms operating as primary workspaces.

The just-announced Galleries Reimagined service simply expands those trends with the inclusion of UOVO’s top-tier art-handling and transportation services, plus an on-site collections management team. A representative for UOVO said the company regards the offering as an “all-in-one solution for gallerists and art advisors who want to reduce their overhead.”

“Galleries Reimagined gives clients control over their bottom line like never before,” UOVO CEO Daniel Schmerin said. “Scaling operations in response to client demand or seasonal obligations becomes seamless, and administrative burdens are removed, so our client partners can dedicate more time and attention exclusively to business development.”
