Rhizome recently announced the teams for their 2016 edition of “Seven on Seven” conference in New York and the lineup is an impressive wave of creative movers and shakers. Since 2010, the nonprofit has invited artists and technologists to collaborate on time-sensitive projects at the New Museum. The all-star roster this year includes polymath Miranda July and video artist Hito Steyerl, who is participating in the 32nd Bienal de São Paulo.

Previous iterations include a 2011 collaboration between artist Rashaad Newsome and inventor Jeri Ellsworth, as well as a 2010 venture between painter Tauba Auerbach and littleBits founder Ayah Bdeir. Among the event’s feature projects, notable works count last year’s collaborative artwork Panda-to-Panda by artist Ai Weiwei and Wikileaks member Jacob Appelbaum; and Image Atlas, an indexing project by photographer Taryn Simon and beloved computer programmer Aaron Swartz.

Miranda July.

1. Miranda July
Miranda July has a hand in many realms. She’s published a novel, won an international short story award for a collection of stories, and produced a Cannes Film Festival award-winning film. July will be working with Paul Ford, Postlight‘s writer and cofounder.

2. Hito Steyerl
German video artist Hito Steyerl has long been interested in exploring the different contexts of presenting art. For the conference, the video artist will be working with Grant Olney Passmore, Aesthetic Integration‘s cofounder. Later in September, Steyerl will be joining 89 other artists in Sao Paolo’s 32nd Bienal.

3. Jennifer Steinkamp
Jennifer Steinkamp is known for her immersive installation projects, which finds her drawing from computer animation and new media to create fantastical spaces. The artist will be working with Rana el Kaliouby, an MIT graduate cofounded emotion recognition technology firm Affectiva.

4. Claire L. Evans
Claire L. Evans is no stranger to the intersections of technology and culture. In fact, as the ‘futures editor’ of online publication Motherboard, Evans will be right at home with partner Tracy Chou, a nominee of Forbes‘s Tech 30 under 30 who works as a software engineer for Pinterest.

5. Junglepussy
Junglepussy is an independent musician who first hit the scene with a 2013 performance with Lil’ Kim. The collaboration between the rapper and New York Times technology reporter Jenna Wortham is sure to make for an interesting pairing.

6. Trisha Baga
Multi-disciplinary artist Trisha Baga, who works in sculpture, painting, music, photography, fiction, and a host of other mediums, will be teaming up with Mike Woods, co-founder of virtual reality company White Rabbit.

7. Ingrid Burrington
Ingrid Burrington, who is currently working as an artist-in-residence at Data and Society Research Institute as well as a fellow at the Experimental Research Lab at Autodesk/Pier 9, will be collaborating with Meredith Whittaker, founder of Google’s Open Source Research and Security group.
