The Pancakes and Booze Art Show
Austin-based event producers Pancakes and Booze are hosting their annual New York art show, featuring all-you-can eat pancakes, live music, body painting, and of course, art. Unclear whether or not Dan “The Painter of Pancakes” Lacey will be participating.
8 p.m. Tickets $10 at door.
Tuesday, October 7
Artadia 15th Annual Benefit Auction
Artadia: The Fund for Art & Dialogue is holding their annual benefit gala at the uptown home of Karen and Dennis Mehiel. The event boasts a live auction of works from stars like Cindy Sherman and Dan Colen, and proceeds go to support emerging artists.
6:30 p.m. Tickets $250+.
Wednesday, October 8
Annual Storm King Gala Dinner and Live Auction
Storm King’s gala and auction will be held at the Four Seasons Restaurant, and honors Alexander S.C Rower and the Calder Foundation. With a benefit committee boasting some big names (Larry Gagosian, for one), it’s sure to be a party to see and be seen.
Cocktails 6:30 PM, Dinner 7:30 p.m. Tickets $1,500+.
Thursday, October 9
New York Academy of Art’s “Take Home A Nude” Art Auction and Party
With a live and silent auction of nudes by Ryan McGinness, Laurie Simmons, Dustin Yellin, and several others, this spirited event helps raise scholarship funds for Academy artists. There will also be a selection of works on paper depicting this year’s “Honorary Muse” Brooke Shields, which means the fashion crowd is sure to be out in full force as well.
Cocktails and auction 6 p.m., dinner 9 p.m. Tickets $250+.
Somebody: An Evening With Miranda July at the New Museum
If you’re intrigued by Miranda July’s unusual new messaging app, stop by the New Museum for a demo and talk by the artist, author, and filmmaker.
7 p.m. Tickets $10 for general public, $8 for members.

Edible Sculptures from papabubble at the Museum of Arts and Design
As part of MAD’s “NYC Makers” niennial, the skilled artisans of papabubble will create mind-blowing and mouth-watering sculptural treats from molten sugar.
6 p.m. Free with museum admission.
Sunday, October 12
Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs at the Museum of Modern Art
MoMA’s highly anticipated exhibition of Matisse’s cut-outs promises to offer a new window into the work of French master. The show was sparked by an effort to conserve The Swimming Pool, a cut-out piece originally composed for the artist’s dining room. The work, which has been off view for 20 years, will be on display.
John Dante Bianchi at Thierry Goldberg Gallery
While you’re doing the Sunday night Lower East Side gallery crawl, stop by Thierry Goldberg to see a solo show by buzzed-about young sculptor John Dante Bianchi. With the LES art scene booming, it’s sure to be a full house.
