Gagosian Loans Art To Roman Museum
The Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Roma Capitale has entered a partnership with the nearby Gagosian Gallery, reports the Art Newspaper.
Under the agreement, Gagosian will loan contemporary artworks to the museum which plans to display the pieces in its proposed new wing—refurbished former waste management facility. The new expansion project increases the museum’s capacity by 2,265-square-meters, and will allow the museum to show more of its collection (as well as Gagosian’s wares).
A courtyard space will house sculptures by Gagosian-represented artists such as Jeff Koons and Damien Hirst.
Rome’s urban planning commissioner, Giovanni Caudo, told the Art Newspaper that Gagosian was “ready to collaborate with the public institution.”
