We sincerely hope you haven’t had your fill of internet art historical parodies yet, because this one is good. Vogue tipped us off to @copylab, an Instagram account that inserts high-fashion goods like Chanel’s Spring 2014 graffiti backpack into paintings like William Adolphe Bouguereau’s The Wave, resulting in a new artwork titled Interlocking Seas (get it?). Given that most of the goods in question are pretty ubiquitous, you don’t have to be super fashion-savvy to get the joke, but for those among us with a dual knowledge of the history of both art and fashion, it’s pure gold.

The brain behind the operation is that of Chris Rellas, a Georgetown University sophomore and former intern for the popular e-tailer Nasty Gal, who apparently also possesses some art smarts and Photoshop chops. Other gems include Girl with a Chanel earring and Kim Jong ill-ist, an appropriated propaganda image of Kim Jong-il trekking the North Korean snow in a technicolor Prada fur, originally worn by Anna Wintour herself. For the drinkers, there’s Magritte goes to university, which sees a bottle of Skyy vodka inserted into René Magritte’s Cloud. And for something more summery, there’s Frida Dream, a version of Frida Kahlo’s Self Portrait Dedicated To Dr. Eloesser upgraded with H0LES shades.
