With only a hint of a possible appearance on David Lynch‘s much anticipated revamp of his surreal television drama, Twin PeaksDeadline confirmed that Kyle MacLachlan will reprise his role as special agent Dale Cooper in the nine-episode series due back in 2016 (see Artist David Lynch to Resurrect Surrealist TV Drama Twin Peaks).

Set to debut the year of it’s 25th anniversary, original creators Mark Frost will write and produce while Lynch will direct all nine-episodes. MacLachlan, who won a Golden Globe for his role as Dale Cooper in the original series, announced onstage at TCA his return to the show. “I’m very excited to return to the strange and wonderful world of Twin Peaks,” MacLachlan said. “May the forest be with you.” Shortly after Lynch confirmed the news via twitter.

The new Twin Peaks, set to air on Showtime, will pick up in present day, 25 years after the last episode of its second season on ABC in 1991. Expect some long-awaited answers, weird dreams, cherry pie, and damn good coffee.
