Today’s attack on the office and staff of Charlie Hebdo (see “12 killed at Magazine Previously Attacked for Satirical Cartoons“), a Paris-based publication, has sparked hordes of people to march in solidarity in London’s Trafalgar square and Paris’s Place de la Republique, among other locations. Coline Milliard, artnet News’ London editor, went to Trafalgar Square to find hundreds of people silently and peacefully protesting the killings of 12 people (10 staff members and two police officers) during the attack, which has been deemed an act of terrorism.
Many marchers are shown holding up signs that read “Je Suis Charlie” and getting on social media using the hashtag #JeSuisCharlie in solidarity with the publication and staff.
