A young man who was critically injured during the May 24 shooting at the Brussels Jewish Museum has become the fourth fatality of the attack, reports the AFP.

As artnet News reported last month, an Israeli couple and a French citizen died immediately during the attack. On Friday, a 24-year-old Belgian man who worked in the museum succumbed to his wounds.

Following the shooting, Belgian police released surveillance video footage of the gunman. On May 30, 29-year-old Mehdi Nemmouche was arrested in France in connection with the attack, carrying similar weapons to those thought to have been used in the  shooting.

Nemmouche is believed to have converted to radical Islam while serving a prison sentence, and recently returned to Europe from Syria, where he is thought to have spent the past year fighting with jihadists. He has previously served seven years in prison, according to Deseret News.

In a court hearing last week, Nemmouche refused extradition to Belgium, denying to consent to a European arrest warrant. His opposition will likely only delay, not prevent his transfer to Brussels. Proceedings will resume June 12.
