Art Basel’s Film sector will be curated by Maxa Zoller, beginning in 2015, artnet News has learned. Film has been curated by Marc Glöde for the past eight years.

Currently based in Cairo, Zoller is known for her roaming series of experimental film screenings at institutions such as Tate Modern, South London Gallery, and the Centre of Contemporary Art Geneva, as well as at a wealth of independent and project spaces.

Zoller says that she hopes to bring a, “diverse and challenging selection of films,” to the Swiss edition of Art Basel, pulling heavily from that experimental background in order to “unfold a dialogue about the medium, whether analogue or digital, its different languages and aesthetics, political roots and discursive horizons.”

Zoller is the third curator for the fair’s film sector. It was founded by This Brunner in 1992. Brunner has served as the Film curator for Art Basel in Miami Beach since it’s launch in 2002.
