In the venerable institution’s latest attempt to engage with a larger audience via the Internet, New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art has launched MetCollects, a new series on the museum’s website profiling recently acquired artworks. Featuring one piece a month, MetCollects will offer photos and curatorial commentary, as well as video, in order to contextualize new additions to the collection.

The series launched with profiles on three works: William Kentridge‘s multimedia installation The Refusal of Time (2012), an 1808 Francois Gérard portrait depicting French diplomat Charles Maurice de Talleyrand Périgord, and Mishneh Torah, an Italian religious manuscript (circa 1457) by the Master of the Barbo Missal.
