Pratt Student Doodle Helps Police Nab Sex Offender

Last week, a 21-year old student put her drawing skills to unusual use when she assisted in incarcerating an ex-convict. While seated in a lithography class at Pratt Institute’s Brooklyn campus, the woman noticed someone standing in the hallway just outside her classroom who appeared to be masturbating. The student, whose name has not been disclosed, quickly took to pen and paper to jot down a rough sketch of the man.

Though this vague sketch leaves much to be desired, it helped investigators identify 46-year old Christopher Thomas as the perpetrator. It is difficult to make out the figure in the outline at all but the federal prosecutor for the case argued that it sufficiently corroborated the young girl’s claim. Though Thomas was not caught on video masturbating, he was clearly seen entering and leaving Pratt’s campus that day.

Thomas has just been sentenced to four months in prison following this indecent exposure and alleged masturbation on Pratt Institute’s campus. He had previously been serving a prison sentence for fraud. The latest incident constituted a violation of his federally supervised release.
