It’s difficult to be in high spirits this time of the year, with the holidays and the inauguration behind us. Unless, of course, you’re in Los Angeles, where the winter sunshine at least partially makes up for it. We can’t deny it: LA’s art scene is booming. From galleries and museums to fashion and music, the Left Coast has so much going for it, highlighted this week by the eighth edition of Art Los Angeles Contemporary. This four-day event, which opens today, takes place in Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar. 62 participating international galleries will showcase artwork.

Of course, if you’ve been hiding from the cold this season and finally made it out to LA, you may also want to check out some of the many gallery shows on view now. Here’s a list of not-to-miss exhibitions, whether you’re in town for the fair or looking for some culture.
