Documenta 14 artistic director Adam Szymczyk will leave his post as director of the Kunsthalle Basel. Szymczyk is said to have made the decision in order to prepare for the large-scale exhibition in Kassel during the summer of 2017.

At a press conference on Thursday, a Kunsthalle Basel representative said that the new director of the institution will be announced next Monday, April 14th.

Born in 1970, Szymczyk has directed the Kunsthalle Basel since 2003. He was elected to head up Documenta 14 last October.
