Art Basel Hong Kong is now underway, and no surprise, it’s bigger than ever: This year’s edition features 241 international galleries—10% of whom are first-timers at the fair—and a robust program of talks, screenings, and events. We’ve already put together another guide for navigating the various satellite fairs and pop-up events, and you can check out this list for the most impressive (and macho) works on display. But if you’re looking to escape the art fair circuit and discover the city’s local galleries, listen up. You definitely won’t want to miss an exhibition of Do Ho Suh’s new work at Lehman Maupin, consisting of an intimate project capturing the life of the famed artist and his young family. Be sure to visit Parkview Art Hong Kong for a distinctly Chinese take on gestural abstraction, and then make time for Blindspot Gallery’s fourth solo exhibition of Jiang Pengyi, where he experiments with a variety of photographic media. Lastly, the group show at Kerlin Gallery looks pretty stellar—featuring an array of talent that includes Merlin James, Liu Ke, and Isabel Nolan—and is only open through March 25. Hurry before it’s too late!
