“Impolite” YBA Sarah Lucas Will Represent Britain at the 2015 Venice Biennale

Sarah Lucas has been selected to represent Britain at next year’s Venice Biennale, the BBC reports She follows in the footsteps of Jeremy Deller, Steve McQueen, and her fellow YBA (and former friend) Tracey Emin.

The artist is best-known for her sexually explicit sculptures and assemblages using everyday materials and foodstuff such as tights, breeze blocks, chickens, and fried eggs.

“[Lucas’ work] is impolite,” said British Council director’s Andrea Rose, who overseas the British pavilion. “Like zest in the artworld mix, her work will bring wit and savour to the Biennale.”
