Sweden’s cultural minister Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth is considering the possibility of merging the Moderna Museet in Stockhom with its neighbours, the Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design, The Art Newspaper reports.
These considerations come after the government decided to end the contract of the Swedish Centre’s director Lena Rahout, following concerns over finances and programming matters.
“For a long time, the Cultural Department has followed the development of the institution and pointed out a need for a change,” Liljeroth told TAN. “The efforts made were not enough and we decided to replace Lena Rahoult within the government.”
Rahoult was meant to stay on until next December. She has been replaced by Kerstin Brunnberg, who will serve as interim director until February 2015.
