Must-See Art Guide: Palm Beach and Naples

This week's guide features Ronnie Landfield, Gordon Cheung, Humberto Calzada, and more.

Sunny Florida takes center stage this week as it plays host to ArtPalmBeach, a fair dedicated to contemporary, emerging, and Modern art. Now in its 21st edition, the event brings with it a number of out-of-town galleries—like Sirona Fine Art, Oliver Cole Gallery, and Boccara Art, to name a few—but in case you also want to get out and see the local scene, we’ve gathered some exhibitions throughout Palm Beach and Naples to keep you busy.

Visit Findlay Galleries for the colorful, expansive paintings of Ronnie Landfield. The artist’s soft touch and punchy palette make him a unique contemporary voice in the whole post-painterly abstraction scene. Another option is heading to the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, where you can find a solo presentation of British artist Gordon Cheung, whose dark, sumptuous work is inspired by works from the Dutch Golden Age. Then, on view at Holden Lutz Gallery is a wide range of lively celebrity portraiture, featuring iconic shots of David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Faye Dunaway, and many more. Finally, if you’d rather really slow down to appreciate art on a totally different scale, don’t miss the Norton Museum of Art’s exhibition of a magnificent dollhouse—made all the more special by the inclusion of tiny artworks donated by family friends like Donald Baechler, Philip Taaffe, and Cy Twombly.
