With the recent news that Art Basel is coming to Singapore, there’s more interest in the city’s art scene than ever. The first edition, to be held in November 2019, is expected to attract around 80 galleries from both Singapore and around the globe, and will take place at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

In the meantime, let’s check in with what’s currently on view in local institutions: Pearl Lam Galleries is currently host to a group show titled “Lingering Manifestations,” exploring a range of art by artists from the Asia-Pacific region and focuses on themes of nature and landscape. Pop on over to Sundaram Tagore Gallery for some formalist painting with “New York Abstraction,” a survey that includes works by Susan Weil, Chun Kwang Young, and Joan Vennum, among others. Then, you can stop by STPI for a visit with American Modern masters with “Handmade Readymades,” an exhibition of 37 prints by Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenber, and James Rosenquist. The show aims to highlight the American print revival of the 1950–1960s, and how artists “revolutioniz[ed] how prints were perceived by amplifying the radical ideas and provocative visual language of The Readymades to ground-breaking effect.”
