Over the past year, many art businesses have downsized, but others have simply shifted shape. While some roles evaporated, the social-distancing era also created new opportunities in a sector that remained digitally agnostic for too long. Many businesses are now actively seeking out people with expertise in selling art virtually, analyzing large data sets, and telling stories effectively online.

At a time when the skills that are desirable on the job market are evolving quickly, Artnet News is teaming up with Art Market Mentors—a three-month mentorship program initiated by Catherine Manson and Caroline Sayan pairing art-market professionals with established members of the industry—to hold a series of free talks about art-world careers in 2021.

In the second of this three-talk series, we bring together arts professionals who have managed to carve out careers in the industry that would not have existed 20 years ago. They will discuss how the art market has adapted to the internet age—and how people who want to break into the field can carve out a role for themselves at the intersection of art and tech.

An audience Q&A session will follow the chat. (Please note the time zone for the start time.)
