What You Need to Know: Tech start-up Artscapy, an end-to-end art collecting platform art marketplace, is hosting its first in-person exhibition in London next week with “Observing the Human,” which brings together NFT artworks by five Korean artists at Morrell House in Shoreditch. Organized with the South Korean art collective Noonssup, it features works by Bongsu Park, Ga Ram Kim, Sejin Kim, Gihun Noh, and Daniel Schine Lee, and aims to showcase the rigorous contemporary artistic experimentation that is taking place through technology, specifically NFTs. A series of accompanying talks and workshops will be held during the run of the show.

Why We Like It: The exhibition focuses on the act of observation, with each artist sharing their own insights into the ways that human perception is enhanced—or distorted—by technological advancement, in works that span video, performance, photography, and audio. Each artwork includes an NFT component, which offers access to an experience or related elements. For instance, Bongsu Park’s Dream Library Pass gives a collector access to the artist’s digital “Dream Library,” while Ga Ram Kim is selling a series of Fantasy Boy Friend Dating Passes, each of which offers access to a unique performance artwork. The purchases of all NFT artworks will be enabled by Artscapy. Beyond the curatorial thesis, the exhibition also aims to demystify NFT and blockchain technology to make them more accessible to collectors and the wider public.

According to the Experts: “We are committed to researching innovative artists to share with our community and we are very excited to present our first exhibition, ‘Observing the Human.’ I was inspired by the way artist Bongsu Park uses technology, not for technology’s sake, but as an enabler of artistic research, as an interrogation tool to explore new artistic expressions. This was the catalyst for creating the exhibition, which makes use of NFT technology as part of a broader narration to show a window into the human condition,” said Artscapy cofounder Emilia De Stasio.
