A New Art Fair, Art on Paper, Comes to Tribeca During Armory Week

Another satellite fair is joining the Armory Week ranks, and it’s called Art on Paper. It comes to the fair-saturated week from Art Market Productions, the same people who produce Miami Project, Art Market San Francisco, and Market Art + Design (formerly Art Market Hamptons, see Hamptons Art Fairs Target Hipster Collectors with Edgy, Nostalgic Artworks, and How To Tell the Three Hamptons Art Fairs Apart). Art on Paper will be held on Pier 36 in Tribeca from March 5–8.

What makes this fair different, you ask? Well, it isn’t called “Art on Paper” for nothing. A note on the fair’s website reads: “[E]xhibiting galleries will feature work by artists who look to paper as a major influence in their sculpture, drawing, painting, and photography. Art on Paper will be a new kind of art fair—a focused fair offering a medium as a conversational catalyst.”

The release also adds that the fair will be working alongside the Hudson River Park Trust and the Brooklyn Museum. Sasha Wolf of Sasha Wolf Gallery on the Lower East Side is serving as the creative director. Tribeca Citizen reports that there will be 62 booths, and the fair is currently accepting applications from potential exhibitors on a “rolling but limited” basis.

The fledgling fair will boast both a VIP preview (which will benefit the Brooklyn Museum) as well as an opening night party, which may aid in boosting some buzz during the busy week.
