Here’s What Sold—and For How Much—at Art Basel Paris 2024

Price Check! A $20 million Louise Bourgeois spider! Mysterious Clare Rojas works on paper for $16,000! Delights sold at (almost) every price point.

Well, that was fun. Nearly 200 exhibitors were on hand at the majestic Grand Palais last week for the first edition of Art Basel Paris (née Paris+ par Art Basel). The sun was shining, the mood was buoyant, and fairly big deals were getting done, though the air got thinner as one entered seven-figure terrain. There were blue-chip masterworks, there were pieces accessible even to those who are cash poor right now, and there were many items in-between.

Below is a list of the sales that participating galleries said they got done at the fair, which closed on Sunday. Before perusing the prices, caveat emptor—or caveat reader, really: These are all self-reported deals, so discounts may not be included. Also (and this is important, many dealers are of the old school and still find the trumpeting of prices to be gauche. Some artists also object): Do not take the absence of a name as evidence that business was not transacted. Last but not least, all prices have been converted to U.S. dollars, the world’s dominant reserve currency—for now.
