Attention all travelers: if you’re planning on vacationing in Europe this summer, be sure to stop by Zürich and Basel to experience the one and only Art Basel, aka “mother of all art fairs.” Not just a chocolate-lover’s paradise, Switzerland happens to host over 90,000 art enthusiasts and 4,000 artists at the fair each year. And with the presence of neighboring SCOPE Basel and VOLTA12, you can be sure to find both emerging and veteran contemporary artists being showcased. All three fairs are taking place in Basel, but if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed by the crowded exhibition halls, definitely be sure to explore the city and nearby Zürich as well. Both are host to innumerable prestigious galleries, such as Basel’s Laleh June Galerie, which just celebrated its eighth anniversary and will host an eclectic group show called “Star Rider,” or the Christophe Guye Galerie in Zürich, which will feature stunning nature photography by Japanese artist Risaku Suzuki. By the end of your trip, you’ll be a true connoisseur. Just don’t forget to indulge in that fabulous Swiss fondue and chocolate while you’re there.
