PULSE Miami Beach Releases Its Giant List of 82 Exhibitors

PULSE Miami Beach is getting a jump on the competition by becoming the first of the satellite fairs to announce its list of exhibitors during Miami Art Week in December, where the crown jewel is, of course, Art Basel in Miami Beach.

Now 11 years old, PULSE will return to Indian Beach Park for a second year under the tent. Eleven galleries from the fair’s inaugural run will return for the 2015 edition.

Despite an expanded floor plan which will contain two conjoined pavilions, the 82 total exhibitors is up only 10 from the 72 dealers who participated this past year. As has become the PULSE signature, 85 percent of galleries will present just one, two, or three artists.

What’s new is a special focus called Conversations, in which 25 galleries will present the work of two artists in curated mini-exhibitions. “We’ve always focused on solo presentations, and they give you a great insight into an artist’s practice, so we wanted to extend this focus to pairings of artists and artworks,” PULSE director Helen Toomer told artnet News via e-mail. “We’re interested not only to see what visual exchanges there are, but will investigate further by connecting the artists and recording their actual Conversations to discover further understanding…”

This year in New York, PULSE returned to Armory Week after experimenting with a run in Frieze Week, appearing with a slightly smaller outfit of 51 galleries at the more intimate Metropolitan Pavilion.
