Adam Kantor is the rare performer lighting up both the stage and screen. The actor and singer recently won a Grammy and an Emmy Award for his performance in the Tony-winning Broadway production of The Band’s Visit, and has been on must-see television series like Billions and The Good Wife.
What audiences might not know is that Adam has a knack for visual art as well. “My grandparents introduced me to art (and their eclectic collection) before they introduced me to theater,” he shares. “Their collection was—and continues to be—an infinite source of inspiration for me.”
As part of his own creative pursuits, Adam co-founded StoryCourse, which produces interactive immersive dining experiences. He directs their events, the latest of which was PrideTable, a theatrical dinner celebrating the stories of five queer chefs for World Pride that benefited the Hetrick-Martin Institute, which offers LGBTQ+ youth services.
With such a keen and omnivorous creative eye, we knew he’d appreciate our current artnet Auctions sale, 40 Under 10. Live for bidding now through July 24, the online auction features 40 prints from the 1960s to today, with works by Ellsworth Kelly, Banksy, Ed Ruscha, and more—all valued at under $10,000.
With so many great pieces to choose from, how did Adam pick his favorites? “As a theater practitioner and storyteller, my eye is usually drawn to pieces that immediately evoke some semblance of narrative,” he explains. “The pieces I chose in this collection here seem to have beating hearts and inner life. I want to lean in and know more.”
