New York Times reporter Robin Pogrebin announced on Twitter that she is the Gray Lady’s new art and auction reporter. “Looking forward to getting started,” she writes.

The news come nearly a year after longtime art and auction reporter Carol Vogel announced her resignation this past December along with a long list of other Times veterans who took buyouts from the paper.
Vogel told artnet News at the time: “After much soul-searching I have decided to take management up on the offer and resign.” She couldn’t help but add, “I am joining quite a list of well-known bylines.”
Pogrebin, who has been a longtime culture reporter for the Times, has covered arts institutions, architecture, and other topics. She has also covered the magazine industry for the paper’s business desk and city news for the metro desk.
She joined the New York Times in 1995. Prior to that she was an associate producer for Peter Jennings’ documentary unit at ABC News, where she produced stories on Bosnia and Haiti. She also spent three years as a staff reporter at the New York Observer, where she covered various subjects.
During her career, she has written articles for magazines including New York, Vogue, and Departures.
Pogrebin’s twin sister, Abigail, is also a writer. She is the author of One and the Same: My Life as an Identical Twin and What I’ve Learned About Everyone’s Struggle to Be Singular as well as Stars of David: Prominent Jews Talk About Being Jewish.
